I am so excited to tell everyone about the Pulaski County Card Crop for Soldiers that was held today at the Maumelle Library. It was a small group of 5 but we had a wonderful time and made 45 cards. I will add this to the other 75 that I have that I have either made or have been donated to me over the last few weeks, so that makes 120 that I will be sending to our Arkansas Guard!!
We made birthday cards, thank you cards, miss you, love you, welcome baby cards and more!!! These cards were left blank so the soldiers can use them to send to their loved ones.
We were lucky to welcome a new member to SA as well! Melissa joins us after having suffered the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Her son-in-law was killed in Iraq on April 30th of this year by a roadside bomb. It was wonderful getting to meet her and hear her story. I presented her with a Soldiers' Angels coin to pass on to her daughter and grandsons as a small token of our appreciation for their sacrifice.
I will schedule another Card Crop for Soldiers in October. At our October crop we will make Christmas cards for the soldiers to send home as well as sign Christmas cards that will be sent to the soldiers. I will post the date as soon as I have it pinned down.
Thomas Jefferson on Redistribution of Wealth
“To take from one because it is thought that his own productivity has acquired too much, in order to give to others who have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association: the guarantee to everyone of a free exercise of his hard work and the profits acquired by it.”
